The collective experience of seasoned professionals at SEED Academy has concluded that the biggest handicap in executing brilliant strategies is the lack of supervisory skills in front-line supervisors/managers. Typically, good performers get promoted to supervisory roles without getting trained in functioning as a supervisor. The majority continue to work as they used to when they were not supervisors. This training will seed the fundamental competencies needed to be an effective supervisor. By any yardstick, this is not everything that a supervisor needs to learn and apply to become an effective supervisor. This training is ideal for newly promoted or less experienced supervisors/managers.
Essential skills needed to become an effective supervisor
This session is like an overview of becoming a supervisor. What is the meaning of supervising? How is a supervisor’s role different from those whom one supervises? The most important skills which any person must develop to become an effective supervisor and the relevance of those skills in a supervisory role.
The first step in supervising effectively
The first step in supervising effectively is to develop observation skills. Several training programmes do not pay adequate emphasis on this extremely important foundation of supervision. What to observe? Why observe? How to observe? When to observe? These and many more will be taught in this session.
Receiving and giving feedback- the second most important step in supervising people
Everybody likes feedback which is favourable. In fact, it is easy to give positive feedback to team members. Receiving or giving negative feedback is difficult. This session will train the participants in receiving and giving feedback in a scientific manner.
